This luxury dog collar presents a fresh and imaginative treatment of the classic Celtic three-sided knot, the "triquetra". Although there is no way to precisely verify the original symbolic meaning of the triquetra, it is widely believed to have represented the three stages of womanhood: maiden, mother and crone. Later the triquetra was often adapted to symbolize the Christian trinity. We use a sharply pointed version of the knot that resembles an arrowhead, thus the name "Gainne", which means
'arrowhead' in the Manx Gaelic dialect.
The D-ring, featuring a pair of human arms tapering into tiny hands holding a horizontal bar, is adapted from a belt buckle found on a Celtic bog man from approximately 1100 AD. This D is sewn onto the back of the collar for convenient attachment of the dog's leash and tangle-free walking. A simplified version of the D hangs from the front for your dog's tags. Both D rings are custom cast for bon Christiani in your choice of solid bronze or sterling silver by Sun Valley Bronze of Bellevue, Idaho. Bronze and silver were both use extensively for jewely making by Celtic and proto-Celtic peoples.
This unique dog collar sports all of the bon Christiani trademark features: equestrian-grade buckle and strap; high-grade, historically-correct gemstones and metals; Celtic-inspired decoration, and the finest in artisinal craftsmanship. The ruggedly beautiful bio-imitative leather dog collar strap insures that this piece will grace even the most active and powerful dogs with years of striking artistry.
